The Department of Human Resource Management at Nanjing University was established in 2007. Its academic discipline falls under the university's first-level doctoral program and postdoctoral research station in Business Administration, and it serves as a core component of the national key discipline of Corporate Management. The department offers an undergraduate program in Business Administration (with a concentration in Human Resource Management), a master's program in Corporate Management, and a doctoral program in Human Resource Management.


It currently has 13 faculty members, including 7 professors (who also serve as doctoral supervisors). Among the faculty are 1 Senior Professor of Humanities and Social Sciences at Nanjing University, 1 recipient of the Fudan Management Award, 1 recipient of the National Hundred, Thousand, and Ten Thousand Talents Program, 1 recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, 3 recipients of the Ministry of Education's Cross-Century and New Century Excellent Talents Program, and 1 recipient (first level) and 2 recipients (second level) of Jiangsu Province's "333 Talent Project."


The department is affiliated with the Nanjing University Institute of Human Resource Strategy, the Jiangsu Enterprise Talent Development Research Base, and the Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management Professional Committee of the Chinese Management Society. In collaboration with other institutions, the department founded the journal Human Resource Management Review (published by Economic Management Press) in 2010, and is also one of the initiators and organizers of the China Human Resource Management Forum. Since 1998, the department has annually hosted the National Seminar for Human Resource Management Course Instructors (a total of 23 sessions as of 2024). Since 2012, it has initiated and co-hosted the annual China Human Resource Management Forum (a total of 11 sessions as of 2024).
